Homecoming Hall Decorating Contest

On Monday, October 5th, the ASL club worked very hard to decorate the math hall for Homecoming Week. The theme was "Come Aboard".

Uh, ladies, shouldn't you be working instead of just standing around?

Here are Melissa and Leslie trying to tape up the pirates' treasure chest.
Char is concentrating on coloring bubbles.

Steven sure seems intent on his work of coloring bubbles.

Leslie doesn't look like she is doing much. Oh, wait, she is sorting the markers for Char and Steven.

Speaking of not doing much... here is our club president, Melissa.

Kaysha cutting out sea weed.

Nice work on the sea weed. Looks like fun.

Now for the big project: creating a huge boat and then hanging it from the ceiling.

Here are some pics of the final project.

Thank you everyone for your help in decorating the hall.

Homecoming Parade

Cyprus High Homecoming Parade. Wednesday, October 7th at 6pm. The Cyprus High ASL Club (and the pres' little brother) marched a mile from the driving range to the high school. They signed the Pledge of Allegiance.
Here they are at the end of the parade. Do they look tired or what? Little man in the middle is asleep.
Here they are pledging their allegiance.

Here is the ginormic flag they followed, all the while pledging their undying allegiance.
They look pretty excited. They haven't starting walking yet.
Here they are waiting to be transported to the beginning of the parade.
"...for which it stands..."
Nice shirts
We're almost finished :)
Ooh, hot.
Finally finished.
Here they are getting ready.

Back to School!!!

'Back to school. Back to school. To prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I've got my lunch packed up; my shoes tied tight. I hope I don't get in a fight.'
Oops, sorry. Got a little carried away. Well, it's that time again. School starts next Monday and I'm hoping to start up the ASL Club again soon. We are going to have some fun activities this year. Hope you can make it :)

Lagoon was a blast!

I feel so bad for all those who could not come to the Lagoon today. I don't know about anyone else, but I had so much fun. ASL Club would like to thank the M.E.S.A. club for letting us share their bus. There were 10 ASL Club members: Maria, Siobhan, Nicole, Alyssa, Melissa A., Melissa B., Ashley, Ashlee, Danielle, and Kylee. There were also 3 chaperones: Hilden, Balling, and Platt (AKA Ben).
Here we are just at the entrance, getting ready to play.
The kids went off to play, while we "big kids" went looking for food. No, these are ducks, not food.
Look who we ran into: Kylee and Melissa B.
Here are the Ashley/e's.
Are you sure you want to ride that?
Oh, man! That was WICKED!!! So much fun we had to ride it twice!
Here is Melissa A. hanging with the M.E.S.A. kids.
Melissa got wet and wanted to share the love.
Ooooohh, what's up, Ben?
Maria, Siobhan, Nicole and Alyssa stopped for snow cones.
Time to go home, girls.
Wow, Danielle. Who's your friend? He's cute.

Thanks for coming everyone. It was so fun. Let's do it again next year. Only this time I will take more pictures.

Lagoon!!! It's what fun is!

After raising money in February by selling Valentines Day cards, we have enough money to take a field trip to the Lagoon. This Friday, May 15th, the bus will be leaving Cyprus at 9am and returning around 4pm. Thanks to all that helped to raise money. We are going to have so much fun!

Cyprus High Beautification Project

So, at the last officer meeting, one of the officers suggested that we plant flowers for one of our final activities. What a great idea! Unfortunately, because I had to coordinate the whole thing with the administrators and the janitorial staff, there wasn't much time to give notice to the club members. So... there were only four students who showed up to help.
We worked hard for almost 2 hours digging and tilling the areas.

Here is one picture of the finished project. We were too tired to take more pics.

Only 3 activities left

Okay, guys. Because it is getting near the end of the year and everyone is getting burned out on school, I have decided that the ASL Club will only be having three more activities. The officers met today and we planned some fun stuff.

  • Friday, April 17th we will be having a scavenger hunt.
  • Friday, May 15th, thanks to your awesome fund-raising abilities during February, the ASL Club will be heading to the Lagoon for the day. Sorry, it is a B day and we're going to miss all of it. Permission forms will be handed out on Monday, May 4th. Parent and teacher forms will need to be signed in order for you to come.
  • And finally, Friday, May 29th will be our last activity before school is out for the summer. We will be planting flowers outside the building, watching a slide show of all the activities we've had, and eating junk food.
I have had a lot of fun this year and I'm looking forward to doing it all again next year. For those of you who are graduating... congratulations on making it through high school, and... I will miss you. Good luck with your futures.

Pizza, popcorn, hot chocolate, and a movie

For those of you who did not come to the activity today, thank you. That meant more pizza and popcorn for those who did come... especially me. I was starved.

Thanks to Ashlee G for bringing the pizza, and thank me for bringing the popcorn and hot chocolate: we all munched until we were sick. This is a good thing.

Can you tell what movie we watched?
